Oh wow, this is a fantastic idea. I would keep up with everything you add to your website. I was born in 1957 so I was too young to catch the Height Asbury and Woodstock culture and I really feel that I missed out. I personally feel that the best decade for music was 1969 to 1979. I visited Height Asbury neighborhood in San Fransisco in 1977. I also lived in several ISKCON temples (think Hare Krishna Hare Rama) that grew from the Krishna Conscious movement that started to become well known around 1969. Your were born in a great year and I will follow your website. Thank you for the memories. MAC.
Hi Mac,
Thank you so much for the kind words and for sharing a bit of your story. It’s wonderful to hear from someone who lived through such a transformative time. I absolutely agree that the decade from 1969 to 1979 holds a special place in the history of music and culture. From the tail end of the Summer of Love to the birth of punk and disco, it truly was an electrifying period.
I love that you had the chance to visit Haight-Ashbury in 1977—a neighborhood that holds so much cultural significance. And your time with ISKCON must have been a fascinating chapter, especially given the movement’s influence on the broader countercultural wave that defined the late ’60s and ’70s. It’s a beautiful reminder of how the spiritual explorations of that time continue to resonate today.
Thank you for joining me on this journey through Generation 1969. I look forward to sharing more stories, insights, and memories from this remarkable era.
Wishing you peace, love, and light,
Tommy
